Automotive CTE Program

The Automotive program at Poteet High School introduces students to the world of vehicle maintenance and repair through hands-on learning and real-world experience. Whether you're interested in becoming a service technician, auto mechanic, or exploring related fields, this program provides the foundational knowledge and practical skills to get started.

CTE learners will gain experience in:

  • Servicing and maintaining different types of vehicles

  • Performing oil changes, lubrication, and antifreeze installation

  • Replacing wiper blades, tires, and vehicle accessories

  • Exploring refinishing and repair techniques

  • Understanding payment processes and customer service in an automotive setting


Course Sequence

  • Level 1: Principles of Transportation

  • Level 2: Automotive Basics

  • Level 3: Automotive Technology I

  • Level 4: Automotive Technology II / Career Preparation I

Each course builds on previous knowledge, helping students move from beginner to career-ready.
